Belog Shines for Women's Gymnastics as Springfield Finishes Seventh at NCGA East Region Championships

Brockport, N.Y. – March 8, 2025 – Highlighted by a runner-up finish on the balance beam by Maya Belog (Sturbridge, Mass.), the Springfield College women's gymnastics team finished seventh overall at the 2025 NCGA East Regional Championships on Saturday afternoon at Brockport State.

The host Golden Eagles won the meet with 192.525 points and was followed by Cortland (192.050), Ithaca (191.675), Ursinus (190.925), Rhode Island College (190.875), Utica (187.850) and Springfield (187.325).

Springfield's score of 187.325 was a season-high for the Pride. Springfield also saw Belog, Sage Kaplan (Auburn, Mass.) and Elsie Gardiner (Tucson, Ariz.) achieve NCGA All-Region accolades at today's meet with Belog securing a spot at the NCGA National Championships in a couple of weeks. Official qualifiers will be announced early this coming week.

Kaplan produced an All Around score of 37.525 for fourth overall as she recorded a 9.675 on the floor, a 9.475 on the vault, a 9.250 on the uneven bars and a 9.125 on the balance beam.

Belog registered runner-up honors on the beam with a 9.825 only behind Lienna Kay of Brockport (9.875), while Gardiner tied for sixth on the floor with a 9.800. Behind Belog on the beam was Scarlette Ayakawa (Coppell, Texas), who tied for 13th with a 9.700, and Ava Kelly (Mashpee, Mass.), who tied for 24th with a 9.600.

Springfield's best event came on the floor exercise combining for a score of 48.550 as behind Gardiner was Stacy Taylor (Biddeford, Maine), who tied for 14th with a 9.725 and Claire Geiger (Independence, Ky.), who tied for 19th with a 9.700.

Taylor was Springfield's top finisher on the vault as she turned in a 9.600 for 16th place, while Ayako Maeda (Tokyo, Japan) paced Springfield on the uneven bars with a 9.425 good enough for 13th place.

Those who qualify will head to Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota for the NCGA National Championships on March 22.
