Box Score 2 Springfield, Mass. - February 1, 2020 - The Springfield College men's volleyball team delivered two victories over SUNY Poly and Lasell in a tri-match on Saturday afternoon in Blake Arena.
Currently ranked No. 2 in the country in the most recent AVCA Division III National Poll, pushed its win streak to six matches as it improved to 7-1 on the year.
Springfield will now turn its attention to preparing for a rematch of last year's NCAA Division III Championship Semifinal, which will take place against top-ranked New Paltz on Friday night at 6 pm as part of the International Volleyball Hall of Fame Morgan Classic.

Springfield 3, SUNY Poly 1 (20-25, 25-12, 25-20, 25-19)
First-year Jarrett Anderson (San Jose, Calif.) continued to impress as he produced 17 kills at a .577 clip and ripped a career-best nine aces in the fourth-set win, as his nine aces in the match proved to be the most in all of college men's volleyball this season. Classmate Liam York (Kailua, Hawaii) turned in 14 kills and Johjan Mussa Robles (Caguas, Puerto Rico) registered 12 digs. Matt Lilley (Stony Brook, N.Y.) was responsible for 34 assists in helping the Pride to a .320 team hitting percentage.
With plenty of new faces in the lineup to start the match for Springfield, the opening set featured 10 ties and five lead changes to the Wildcats broke open a 15-all tie with a 6-2 burst to force Springfield into a timeout. The Pride would get as close as four points before the Wildcats took the 25-20 win as the Pride hit just .083 in the set.
Head coach Charlie Sullivan went back to his primary starting lineup and Springfield responded hitting .526 en route to the 25-13 win. The Pride jumped out to a 14-8 lead on an ace by York and work take the 25-13 win following Anderson's third ace of the set.
Springfield snagged a 16-9 lead in the third thanks to a pair of kills by York, but the Wildcats would pull within 20-17 on a Pride attack error. Two kills by Brandow allowed the lead to grow back to 23-18 and York finished off the 25-20 with his fifth kill of the frame.
The fourth set belong to Anderson and he totaled seven kills on 10 errorless attempts and ripped five aces. With the score tied at 13-all, Anderson delivered a kill and then blistered four-straight aces to give the Pride some cushion, and Astin Sesoko (Corona, Calif.) ended the 25-19 win with Springfield's 14th ace of the night.
Springfield 3, Lasell 0 (25-13, 25-19, 25-18)
Brennen Brandow (Manorville, N.Y.) put away a match-high 16 kills hitting .480 to lead a Pride offense that hit .373 in the victory. Jarrett Anderson (San Jose, Calif.) added 12 kills, while Chris Parker (East Northport, N.Y.) delivered six kills and five blocks in the middle. Matt Lilley (Stony Brook, N.Y.) handed out 34 assists and Johjan Mussa Robles (Caguas, Puerto Rico) racked up a match-high 14 digs.
The hosts seized a 16-8 lead following a big swing from Brandow as the Lasers called for a timeout midway through the first. The Pride would lead by as many as 12 in the set as Lasell was held to a .000 hitting percentage, and Springfield won the 25-13 stanza as it .440 in the opener, highlighted by seven kills off the arm of Brandow.
The second set was tied eight times, the last coming at 15-all. However, Brandow would register a pair of kills and tack on an ace as part of a 5-0 burst which gave Springfield the 20-15 edge. Springfield would go on to take the 25-19 win as Anderson bounced his seventh kill of the set.
Back-to-back aces from York allowed Springfield to earn an early 6-2 lead in the third, but the Lasers would hang tough and make it an 18-17 game after a Springfield miscue. However, Lasell would commit four attack errors in the next five points and Anderson capped off the night with a huge ace in the 25-18 victory.
