Ithaca, N.Y. - March 7, 2020 - The Springfield College women's gymnastics faced off with Ithaca College in a dual competition on Saturday afternoon at the Ben Light Gymnasium.
Springfield posted a score of 187.525 while Ithaca edged the Pride with a total team score of 189.225.
On the vault, the Pride put together a 47.200 team score with Ali Rushlow (West Hartford, Conn.) and Tali Twomey (Cotuit, Mass.) each producing a 9.525 tying for the Pride's top finish in the event. MacKenzie MacLeod (Kennebunk, Maine) debuted a new routine that garnered a score of 9.475 while Taylor Jackson (Ocean, N.J.) turned in a 9.350.
Sara King (Maribor, Slovenia) continued her impressive performances as the Art Therapy major set a new career-high of 9.725 on the uneven bars, which allowed King to claim the top spot in the event. Tori Sipes (Windham, N.H.) earned a fourth-place finish overall by putting together a 9.375 score and Lena Morant (Gambrills, Md.) tallied a 9.200 for Springfield in the event. On the beam, King added another standout routine for the Pride with a score of 9.675. MacLeod gave Springfield a 9.500 flat performance on the beam and Sarah Murphy (Norwell, Mass.) added a 9.275.
On the floor, Springfield's Devon Rosier (Hudson, N.H.) turned in a career-high performance as the first-year pumped in a 9.650 routine. Twomey finished with a 9.625 while MacLeod completed a 9.550 routine. Rounding out the top finishers for the Pride were Taylor Campagnone (Johnston, R.I.) and Victoria Gendreau (Warren, R.I.), who tallied 9.525 and 9.450 scores.
Springfield will now shift focus to the NCGA East Regional Championship, where they will serve as the host to SUNY Brockport, Ursinus, Rhode Island College, Cortland, and Ithaca next weekend.
