Box Score Bristol, R.I. - November 12, 2021 - The Springfield College men's basketball team was toppled by host Roger Williams, 82-67, on Friday evening in the Campus Rec Center.
The Pride dip to 0-2 with the loss, while Roger Williams improved to 1-0 after the victory in its season opener.
Collin Lindsay (East Longmeadow, Mass.) was impressive for the Pride as he turned in a double-double with a team-best 19 points to go along with 10 boards on 8-of-10 shooting from the floor. Zeke Blauner (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.) contributed 17 points and Daryl Costa (Providence, R.I.) added 10 points and six rebounds. Springfield held a 34-25 advantage on the glass in the game, but allowed the Hawks to shoot 29-for-56 (51.8%) from the floor, including a 12-for-28 performance from beyond the arc.
Mac Annus led all players with 24 points for Roger Williams, while teammate Drew Hart added 15 points and 10 caroms and John Ah Kao chipped in 10 points.
Springfield held a 23-20 advantage following a pair from the charity stripe by Panayiotis Kapanides (Bedford, Mass.) at the 8:57 mark, and two more from the line by Blauner with 4:59 remaining in the half allowed the Pride to own a 31-27 edge. However, Roger Williams would close out the stanza on a 15-4 surge as they connected on three buckets from downtown to take a 43-35 cushion into the break.
Blauner canned a jumper just over two minutes into the second half to pull the Pride within 44-43, but the Hawks would use an 8-0 push over the next two-plus minutes to open up a 52-43 lead as Springfield called for a timeout. The hosts would stretch their lead to 18 points and not look back as they held on for a 15-point non-conference win.
The Pride will play again in its home opener on Wednesday, November 17 when versus Eastern Connecticut State at 5:30 pm.
