The Pride held a 16-12 cushion in the second following a big swing from Reynolds, Wentworth would put together a 9-4 burst of their own, taking advantage of four Springfield attack errors to gain a 21-20 edge. Springfield would respond with a 4-1 run of its own, getting back-to-back kills from Anderson to earn set point. However, out of a timeout, Wentworth sidedout and force the Pride into three-straight attack errors to even the match up at a set apiece. Springfield was limited to a -.040 hitting percentage in the frame.
Wentworth carried that momentum in the third, seizing 13-6 lead midway through the stanza. The hosts would hold a 21-16 lead, only to have the Pride register five-straight points, highlighted by a kill and two blocks from Reynold to knot the frame at 21. The teams would trade points until they were again tied at 24, but back-to-back kills from Engel allowed Wentworth to take a 2-1 set lead following the 26-24 win.
Springfield appeared poised to force a fifth set as it raced out to a 10-3 lead following a stuff block from Chris Parker (East Nortport, N.Y.). A Brandow kill allowed the Pride to gain a 16-9 lead, but four-straight points from Wentworth started to shift the momentum. The Pride would still maintain a 22-19 cushion after a Leopards service error, but the hosts would score the final six points of the match as Springfield committed four-straight attack errors in the 25-22 setback.
The Pride will close out the regular season on Sunday in Blake Arena as it hosts two matches versus Lasell beginning at 1 pm.
