Springfield, Mass. - October 27, 2022 - The Springfield College field hockey team was edged by Western New England, 2-0, in its non-conference finale on Thursday evening.

The Pride had its four-game winning streak snapped as it fell to 9-8, while the Golden Bears picked up their fourth-straight victory to move to 10-5.

WNE held a 10-7 advantage in shots for the game, including a 6-3 edge in the first half, while also taking 10 of the game's 12 penalty corners.  Remy Niland (Marshfield, Mass.) had four saves for the Pride in the setback.  

After a scoreless first half, Western New England capitalized one of their six penalty corners in the third quarter when Olivia Eastman delivered an unassisted goal at the 35:07 mark.  Taylor Klesyk added an insurance goal in the 52 minute as she finished off a feed from Kara Edwards to complete the non-conference win. 

Springfield will conclude the regular season on Saturday when it travels to play Wellesley at 1 pm.
