Providence. R.I. - October 7, 2022- The Springfield College women's volleyball team put together another impressive all-around effort in a three-set sweep of Johnson & Wales in non-conference play on Friday evening. Springfield won by the scores of 25-15, 25-16, 25-12 to improve to 10-4 on the season. 

Megan Kirtyan (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) directed Springfield's offense with 23 assists as the Pride hit at a .265 clip on the night and had five players with at least five kills. Riley Donahue (South Windsor, Conn.) and Natalie Billet (Commack, N.Y.) combined for 23 digs and 14 kills on the pin, while the middle combo of Maeve Voltz (Bay Shore, N.Y.) and Olivia Gentry (Loveland, Ohio) produced 12 kills and eight blocks.  Jamie Albrecht (Selden, N.Y.) contributed six blocks and five kills and Ally Townsend (Hummelstown, Pa.) turned in a team-high 15 digs as the Pride limited the hosts to a -.017 hitting percentage.

After falling behind 6-3 to start the match, Springfield used a 9-1 push to take command of the opening set. The Pride would run its advantage to 21-11 on a kill by Gentry and hold on for the 25-15 triumph.

In the second, Springfield jumped out to an 8-3 cushion and would later use a 6-0 spurt fueled by a pair of Albrecht kills to earn a 22-12 edge. Voltz would later bury a ball in the middle for the 25-16 win.

The Pride totaled 13 kills at a .414 clip as a team in the third and snagged an 11-3 lead after an ace from Donahue. Springfield would score the final five points of the match, with a stuff block from Albrecht and another Donahue ace highlighting the surge as the Pride completed the three-game sweep. 

On Saturday, Springfield will compete in a tri-match with UMass Boston and Roger Williams.
