Box Score Springfield, Mass. - November 22, 2022 - The Springfield College men's basketball team was defeated by Keene State, 113-75, in Blake Arena on Tuesday evening in non-conference play.
Keene State boosted its record to 5-0 while the Pride slipped to 1-4 with the setback.
Curtiss Blische (Barkhamsted, Conn.) had a strong performance for the Pride as he totaled 18 points and 10 boards on 8-of-10 shooting, while Zeke Blauner (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.) contributed 16 points and John Paulino (New Bedford, Mass.) handed out a game-high seven assists. Springfield turned the ball over 27 times, which led to 40 Keene State points.
It was a back-and-forth start to the game as Springfield opened up an 19-18 edge on a Blische inside bucket at the 11:44 mark. However, the Owls would respond with an 14-2 push over the next three-plus minutes as it gained a 32-21 cushion. After the lead ballooned to 42-26 with 4:40 on the clock following a Hunter layup, Bray contributed five points as part of a 7-0 surge to make it a nine-point contest with 3:24 left in the frame. The Owls would answer back with the final eight points of the stanza as it went into the halftime break with a 50-33 lead.
Springfield would turn the ball over on its first six possessions of the second half as the Owls canned a 10-0 run to seize control of the game as it pulled away for the non-conference victory.
Springfield will play against after Thanksgiving break on Wednesday, November 30 when it hosts Trinity at 7 pm.
