Hartford, Conn. - March 31, 2022 - In its lone action the week, the Springfield College women's tennis team fell to host Trinity College, 7-2, on Thursday afternoon.
After going unbeaten in its first eight matches, Springfield is now 7-2-1 on the year.
Springfield was able to earn a point in doubles by default at the No. 3 spot as it dropped the other two bouts by margins of 8-4.
The Pride was able to benefit from another default victory at No. 6 singles for its second point of the match and put together some impressive battles in singles play. At the top spot, Gabriella Heaney-Secord (Westwood, Mass.) battled back from dropping the first set 6-0 to take the second 6-4 before falling 6-2 in the third. At No. 3, Rielly Malz (Glastonbury, Conn.) was clipped by the scores of 6-4, 7-6.
Springfield will begin New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play on Tuesday when it hosts Wellesley at 3:30 pm.
