Box Score Springfield, Mass. - September 17, 2022 - The Springfield College women's soccer program took on Mount Holyoke on Saturday afternoon at Brock-Affleck Field and cruised to a 6-0 victory to begin New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play.
Springfield improves to to 3-2, 1-0 in conference play on the season, while Mount Holyoke falls to 1-4, 0-1. Springfield controlled the play throughout the contest, holding a 27-1 edge in shots and taking all seven of the game's corner kicks.
The Pride would find the back of the net first the first time on the afternoon as Hannah Kolodziey (East Longmeadow, Mass.) played Kaleigh Dale (Mansfield, Conn.) through as she would launch the ball through the legs of the Mount Holyoke keeper to make the game 1-0 at the 14:20 mark. In the 32nd minute, Nicole Sweeney (Grafton, Mass.) would receive a great pass from Dale, and find Kaitlyn Suller (Oviedo, Fla.) who ripped a shot into the right bottom corner.
Springfield would tack on its third goal of the first half in the 43rd minute as Dale fired over a cross to Jen Walker (Webster, Mass.), who tapped it off to Meredith Healy (Niantic, Conn.) who would put away her first collegiate goal.
The hosts would add three more tallies in the second, as Suller accounted for another goal and assist, while Mirabel Brunell (Clifton Park, N.Y.) and Taylor Gibson (Billerica, Mass.) each added markers in the 71st and 85th minute to complete the scoring.
Next up for the Pride will be a home contest against Wellesley next Saturday at 12 pm.
