Beverly, Mass. – October 14, 2023 – The Springfield College women's tennis team capped its fall season this afternoon with a dual match at Endicott College. Ultimately, the Gulls defeated the Pride by a 6-3 final. Springfield finished its fall non-traditional season with an 0-2 record in dual match play.
Endicott took a 2-1 lead after doubles play with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. It was graduate student Gabby Heaney-Secord (Westwood, Mass.) and senior Kate Rosselli (Trumbull, Conn.), who earned an 8-4 win at No. 2 for Springfield.
Heaney-Secord picked up her second win of the day at No. 2 singles as she toppled Ripley Uyeda by a score of 6-3, 6-1. Springfield's other point came from sophomore Alysa Elliott (Gros-Islet, Saint Lucia), who defeated Kaitlin Fitzgibbons, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5 singles.
Sophomore Emma Aberle (West Warren, Mass.) played a back-and-forth affair at No. 6 singles, but was edged in three sets by a score of 6-0, 3-6, 6-2
Springfield will open its spring season on Monday, March 11 in Orlando, Florida with a matchup against Bethel College (Minnesota).
