Box Score 2 Springfield, Mass. - February 18, 2023 - The Springfield College men's volleyball team earned wins over Hunter and St. Joseph's in a tri-match on Saturday in Blake Arena.
Springfield, which was ranked No. 3 in the latest AVCA Division III National Poll, is now 12-2 on the year.
The Pride will travel to New Hampshire on Wednesday to face Rivier.
In its first match of the afternoon, Carter Durivage (East Greenbush, N.Y.) totaled 15 kills at a .500 clip on the outside and the duo of Dylan Mulvaney (Reston, Va.) and Ethan Weislo (Orchard Park, N.Y.) combined for 40 assists in leading the Pride to a .420 team hitting percentage. Giancarlo Carrion (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) accounted for seven of Springfield's 12 aces in the victory.
Leading 9-8 in the first, Springfield put together a 7-2 burst to gain a 16-10 lead following a block by Reed Bonkovsky (Richmond, Va.). The visitors would get within 24-23, only to have Durivage terminate his sixth kill of the set to close out a 25-23 win.
In the second, the Pride fell behind 8-2 in the early going and could not recover as the Hawks earned a 25-16 victory. It was a different story in the third as Springfield hit .636. Carrion put on a show from the end line down the stretch, ripping five-straight aces to fuel the 25-8 triumph.
Springfield would account for 16 kills in the fourth set, getting five off the arm of Jarrett Anderson (Largo, Fla.). Trailing 9-8, Springfield scored a 7-2 run that was capped off by another Carrion ace to give the hosts a 15-11 cushion. Hunter would get as close as a point four times, the last at 18-17, but a four-point run capped off by another Anderson kill keyed Springfield to a 25-22 win.

Playing St. Joseph's for the second time so far this season, Springfield hit .463 in the victory as it cruised to a straight-set win.
Noah Weislo (Orchard Park, N.Y.) and
Jarrett Anderson (Largo, Fla.) combined for 21 kills to lead the offense, while Anderson ripped five aces.
Dylan Mulvaney (Reston, Va.) had 27 helpers and both
Joel DeCamp (Simi Valley) and
Chris Rouleau (Bay Shore, N.Y.) notched four blocks apiece.
Tied up at 7-7 in the first, Springfield put together a 6-1 burst, capped off by an Anderson cross-court kill in transition to force the visitors into a etimout. St. Joseph's would pull within 19-17, but Springfield used a 6-1 surge to close out the frame, as Rouleau hammered an overpass kill to conclude a 25-18 win in which the Pride hit .526.
Springfield raced out to a 7-1 lead in the second following an ace by
Evan Costley (Simi Valley, Calif.) and would take a 13-6 edge when
Ryan Roller (West Hartford, Conn.) blistered an ace of his own out of a St. Joseph's timeout. In a frame where the visitors would hit -.095, Springfield eased its way to a 25-15 win as Weislo converted out of the backrow on set point.
The teams were all square at 10-10 before Springfield scored five-straight points, highlighted by two aces and a kill from Anderson. The Pride would hit .529 in the stanza as Weislo, Anderson, and
Carter Durivage (East Greenbush, N.Y.) combined for 10 kills to lead the hosts to a 25-16 victory.
