Women's Tennis Competes at ITA New England Regional Championship

Middletown, Conn. – September 22, 2023 - Four members of the Springfield College women's tennis program competed at the ITA New England Regional Championship at Wesleyan University on Friday afternoon.

In singles play, junior Ramida Manataweewat (Thailand, Bangkok) defeated Serena Ross of Gordon College in straight sets by scores of 7-5, 6-1 before she fell to 9-16 seeded Sarah Youngberg, 6-0, 6-1 of host Wesleyan in the round of 32.

Graduate student Gabby Heaney-Secord (Westwood, Mass.) was topped by Josephine Kimball of Trinity College, 6-2, 6-0, in the first round of the tournament.

Sophomore Alysa Elliott (Gros-Islet, Saint Lucia) teamed up with graduate student Veronica Fulgieri (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) in the opening round of the doubles bracket, but fell to Kamila Stasiowska and Marina Campos of Babson College by an 8-0 final.

Springfield will return to action on Sunday, October 1 with a non-conference matchup at Connecticut College.
