Babson Park, Mass. – October 19, 2024 – Competing against its third nationally-ranked team this season, the Springfield College field hockey team was upended by No. 7 Babson, 6-0, in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) meeting on Saturday.
Babson moved to 12-3, 6-0 in conference play and Springfield dropped to 5-10, 1-5.
The Beavers had a 32-0 advantage on shots in the game and took 13 penalty corners.
Kaitlyn Parent (Glastonbury, Conn.) and
Neilee Hess (Franklin, Mass.) combined to make 15 saves on the day for the Pride.
Babson opened up the scoring in the fifth minute before tacking on a pair of second-quarter strikes three minutes apart. The hosts added two more goals in a four-minute span in the third and completed the scoring in the 55th minute.
Next up for Springfield will be a Tuesday night clash with Wheaton beginning at 6 pm.
