Framingham, Mass. – October 29, 2024 – A goal with 11 minutes to play by
Connor Policarpio (Bristol, Conn.) lifted the Springfield College men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Framingham State University on Tuesday night at Maple Street Field.
Springfield will head into its regular season finale on Saturday with an overall record of 6-7-3, while Framingham State will do the same with a mark of 1-13-2.
Policarpio registered his eighth goal of the season in tonight's victory tying him for second most in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference with Shikhar Motupally of MIT and Alasdair Ferrier of Wheaton College.
Policarpio's eight goals are also tied for the most in a season since Finn Welch (2021) and Brad Deckel (2017). The last members of the Pride to reach double-digit goals in a season were Luke Alvaro (18) and Cam Powell (10) in 2016.
Springfield keeper
Noah Pote (Washington, Conn.) made four saves in his third clean sheet of the season and second consecutive shutout to improve to 5-5-3. Framingham State netminder Timothy Singleton stopped 11 shots in his first action since September 17.
As a team, Springfield dominated possession with a 22-10 advantage in shots and a 6-1 differential in corner kicks.
Springfield will travel to Salve Regina University on Saturday at 1:00 pm for its regular season finale.
