NCAA BOUND - Women's Volleyball To Compete In 2024 NCAA Division III Championship Tournament

Springfield, Mass. - November 18, 2024 - The Springfield College women's volleyball team is headed to the 2024 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship Tournament and will take on Virginia Wesleyan in the opening round on Thursday on the campus of Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania.

Springfield was one of 21 programs from across the nation to receive an at-large bid to the tournament and will be joined by three other New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) schools in the national tournament with MIT and Smith.

In her 14th season at the helm of the Pride, head coach Moira Long led the volleyball program to a 22-7 record and this marks the 10th time she has led Springfield to the national tournament. Previously, Long has guided the Pride to the NCAA Elite Eight in 2011, to the NCAA Sweet 16 in 2015 and 2016, to NCAA Regional Semifinals in 2012, 2013, 2018, 2021, and 2023 as well as the NCAA Regional Quarterfinals in 2014. Springfield's most recent appearance on the national stage came last year when they made it to the Regional Semifinals after a sweep over Wentworth in the opening round of the national tournament.

Virginia Wesleyan, which was receiving votes in the most recent AVCA Division III National Poll, enters the tournament with a 26-5 record and also earned an at-large bid into the national tournament following a five-set loss to Washington & Lee on Saturday in the ODAC Championship.
