Springfield, Mass. - March 16, 2024 - The Springfield College men's gymnastics team produced a season-best mark to defeat Army, 398.550-389.250, in the Pride's regular-season finale on Saturday afternoon in Blake Arena.
The Pride's score of 398.550 was not just its best score of the season, but it was its highest score since posting a 400.600 in the 2016 ECAC Championships. In fact, Springfield now has the two highest scores of any team in the ECAC this year, with today's mark of 398.550 being the best to date.Â
Sam Kaplan (Fairhaven, Mass.) was impressive in the victory as he took first in the all-around competition with a 80.450, which was highlighted by a winning mark of 13.550 on the parallel bars.
Starting off the afternoon on the floor exercise, Springfield posted a 66.550 and had five of the top six scores, with
Timothy Templeton (Maynard, Mass.) and
Evan Reichert (Oswego, Ill.) tying for first with 13.500's.Â
Peyton Cramer (Grapevine, Texas) once again led the way on the pommel horse as he won with a 14.350, outdistancing the second-place mark by 1.200 points.
On the rings, Springfield posted a 66.800 and had the five-best scores in the event, led by
Will Wilson (Montgomery, Ala.) who was victorious with a 13.850 while
David Handron (Pittsburg, Pa.) took second with his 13.400.
Dominic Ramalho (Hollis, N.H.) delivered the winning score on the vault after he hit for a 14.300, before Springfield earned a 66.900 on the parallel bars.Â
Noah Dhaliwal (South Orange, N.J.) finished second on the event behind Kaplan with a 13.500. Ending the day on the horizontal bar, the Pride scored a 65.400, with
Felix Kriedemann (Strasslach, Germany) earning second-place honors after registering a 13.350.
Next weekend, Springfield will travel to Colorado for the USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships, taking place at Air Force on March 22-23.
