Springfield, Mass. – April 20, 2024 – The Springfield College baseball team fell twice to Clark University in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) doubleheader on Archie Allen Field this afternoon. Clark shutout Springfield twice winning, 5-0, in game one and 11-0 (7 innings) in game two.
Clark is now 20-12 overall and 4-8 in NEWMAC play, while Springfield is 14-16, 1-9.

Game One: Clark 5, Springfield 0
Clark scored the game's first run in the top of the second when Tyler Jones crossed the plate on an RBI knock by Brayden Hollinrake. The Cougars doubled their advantage in the top of the sixth on an RBI double by Ryan Bonja.
Springfield was only able to produce five hits in game one and had its best chance to score in the bottom of the fourth, but the Pride grounded into a double play to end the threat. Springfield was not able to get a runner past second base in game one.
Clark added three runs in the top of the eighth on an RBI double by Bonja, a sacrifice fly by Michael Soares and an RBI single by Hollinrake.
After seven shutout frames on the bump by Benjamin Spencer, Tommy Flaherty closed the game in the eighth and the ninth for the Cougars.
Game Two: Clark 11, Springfield 0 (7 Innings)

After a walk and a single in the first, Bonja gave Clark a quick 3-0 lead with a home run. The Cougars added one in the second on a wild pitch and an error before another three run home run – this time by Soares – in the third extended Clark's lead to 7-0.
Clark added three runs in the top of the fourth and one in the top of the sixth to account for its 11 runs in the nightcap. Just as they did in game one, the Cougars pitching staff didn't allow a Springfield runner to reach third base as the Pride were only able to muster five total hits in game two.
Maxwell Gitlin pitched a complete game for the Cougars scattering five hits with five strikeouts to complete the sweep.
