Amherst, Mass. - September 4, 2024 - The Springfield College field hockey team was upended by nationally-ranked Amherst, 5-0, in a non-conference tilt on Wednesday evening.
The Mammoths connected for two goals in the first nine-plus minutes of the game before adding a goal in the 17th minute to take a 3-0 lead into the halftime break. The hosts tacked on two more strikes in the 44th and 58th minute to conclude the scoring as five different goal scorers found the back of the cage in the win.
Kaitlyn Parent (Glastonbury, Conn.) made nine saves in three quarters of action while
Neilee Hess (Franklin, Mass.) added two saves of her own in 15 minutes between the pipes.
On Saturday, Springfield will travel to Western Connecticut for a 4 pm contest.
