Springfield, Mass. - October 11, 2025 - The Springfield College field hockey team beat Wellesley 2-0 this afternoon thanks to fourth quarter goals from
Hailey Gaydos (Newington, Conn.) and
Clare Moore (New Preston, Conn.).
The Pride improve to 8-5 overall and 3-2 in conference play while the Blue drop to 4-8 overall and 2-3 in the conference.
It was a back-and-forth game and neither team was able to get things going offensively until Gaydos capitalized on a deflected pass that went underneath a Wellesley defender and put it in the back of the cage with just six minutes left in the game.
In the 57th minute, Springfield was awarded a penalty corner that
Nicolette Morlock (Rexford, N.Y.) inserted to Moore who drove it in to put the Pride up two with little time to go.
The Pride outshot the Blue 10-6 and also held an 8-3 edge on penalty corners.
Sam Orcutt (Forestdale, Mass.) had five saves in the win.
Springfield will travel to Mount Holyoke next Saturday for a 12:00 pm matchup.
