Field Hockey Takes Down Mount Holyoke, 4-1

South Hadley, Mass. - October 18, 2025 - The Springfield College field hockey team took down conference opponent Mount Holyoke, 4-1, this afternoon.

With the win, the Pride improve to 9-5 overall and 4-2 in conference play. Springfield is in the midst of one of its best seasons under head coach Mia Olsen with three conference games left to play. The Lyons drop to 4-9 overall and 0-6 in the conference.

Springfield got the scoring going late in the first quarter when Hailey Gaydos (Newington, Conn.) sent a pass to the opposite post to Rachel Simkewicz (Westwinster, Mass.) who was there to deflect it in.

In the 23rd minute, Amber Wolkner (Farmington, Conn.) connected with Ava Coppola (Southington, Conn.) who shot the ball past multiple defenders and into the back of the cage.

About two minutes later, Clare Moore (New Preston, Conn.) found Simkewicz open on a penalty corner and lifted it over the goalkeeper to put the Pride up three.

Samara Skully (East Rochester, N.Y.) scored her first goal of the season when Gaydos deflected a pass to Skully and she was able to shoot it past the goalkeeper.

The Lyons scored one goal late in the game, but it was too late to come back after a dominant performance from the Pride.

Springfield outshot Mount Holyoke 18-7 and held a 7-2 lead on penalty corners. Sam Orcutt (Forestdale, Mass.) had two saves in the win.

The Pride host nationally-ranked No. 4 Babson in a conference matchup on Tuesday at 6:30 pm.
