Leading with Integrity: Marnae Mawdsley’s '17 Journey from Springfield to the NCAA

Springfield, Mass. - October 23, 2025 - For Marnae Mawdsley '17, the lessons she learned at Springfield College continue to shape her every day. As the Associate Director in the Office of the Committees on Infractions at the NCAA National Office, she plays an important role in upholding the integrity of college sports across all three divisions.

"Our office assists NCAA committees as they resolve infractions cases, essentially, violations of NCAA rules," Mawdsley explained. "We provide administrative support, research, document and decision drafting, and strategic planning throughout that process. It's complex work, but incredibly rewarding to know that what we do helps protect the fairness and credibility of college athletics."

Mawdsley's journey began in the Sport Management program at Springfield College, where she combined her academic interests with her love for competition as a member of the women's volleyball team. "My time at SC was incredibly rewarding, both academically and athletically," she said. "My sport management courses and my athletic department internship solidified my passion for pursuing a career in collegiate athletics. Through those experiences, I connected with mentors who have continued to guide and support me throughout my professional journey."

Those mentors, teammates, and professors helped her understand what it means to lead, a lesson she carries into her current role. "As a member of the volleyball team, I learned lessons in leadership, teamwork, and communication that have shaped me personally and professionally," she said. "The relationships I gained through that experience have become lifelong sources of inspiration and support. The Springfield community has had an invaluable impact on my life."

At the NCAA, Mawdsley is motivated by the opportunity to make a difference. "I'm inspired by my community, both inside and outside of work, and by the ability to help others," she shared. "I find fulfillment in building relationships and contributing to something larger than myself. In my professional role, I'm motivated by the challenge of solving difficult problems with my team. Each case we work through helps the NCAA and its member institutions, and gives me a chance to learn and grow."

Her advice to current Springfield students reflects that same appreciation for connection and collaboration. "Take full advantage of the SC community," she encouraged. "From professors and coaches to classmates and teammates, every connection you make contributes to your growth and can have a lasting impact long after graduation."

When Mawdsley looks back on her Springfield experience, her favorite memories are deeply rooted in the camaraderie of sport, from long bus rides and team dinners to preseason bonding and East Campus visits. "And beating MIT in the 2016 NCAA Tournament will always be one of my favorite moments," she said.

From competing on the court to ensuring fairness across collegiate athletics, Marnae Mawdsley continues to embody the Springfield College mission, using her knowledge, leadership, and passion to serve others and strengthen the world of sport.
