Springfield, Mass. - November 17, 2025 - The Springfield College women's volleyball team is headed to the 2025 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship Tournament and will take on No. 13 nationally-ranked Emory University in the opening round on Thursday on the campus of Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts. This will mark the second all-time meeting between the Pride and the Eagles and the first since 2010.
Springfield was one of 21 programs from across the nation to receive an at-large bid to the tournament and will be joined by two other New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) schools in the national tournament with MIT and Babson.
In her 15th season at the helm of the Pride, head coach
Moira Long led the volleyball program to a 23-7 record and this marks the 11th time she has led Springfield to the national tournament. Previously, Long has guided the Pride to the NCAA Elite Eight in 2011, to the NCAA Sweet 16 in 2015 and 2016, to NCAA Regional Semifinals in 2012, 2013, 2018, 2021, and 2023 as well as the NCAA Regional Quarterfinals in 2014 and 2024. Springfield's most recent appearance on the national stage came last year when they made it to the Regional Quarterfinals against Virginia Wesleyan University on the campus of Juniata College.
Emory, which competes in the University Athletic Association (UAA), enters the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament with a record of 19-7, while Springfield takes a record of 23-7 into this weekend's tournament. The winner of the Emory/Springfield match will take on the winner of No. 1 East Texas Baptist University (31-0)/Maine Maritime (21-8) on Friday in the regional semifinal.
The rest of this weekend's regional features Kean University (29-5), Lasell University (25-3), host Tufts University (22-5) and Bridgewater State University (17-4). Kean won the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) title, Lasell won the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) title, Tufts won the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) title and Bridgewater State won the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC). East Texas Baptist was the winner of the American Southwest Conference (ASC) and Maine Maritime won the North Atlantic Conference (NAC), while Springfield and Emory were at-large selections to this year's tournament.
The winner of this weekend's regional will advance to the National Quarterfinals which will take place on the campus of Illinois Wesleyan University from December 3-6, 2025.
