Boston, Mass. – February 28, 2025 – The Springfield College women's track and field team opened action at the 2025 New England Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday afternoon at the Track at New Balance.
Katherine DeFosse (Worcester, Mass.) once again broke the 60-meter hurdles record as she posted an 8.79 during prelims to earn the top seed in tomorrow's final heat. The 8.79 currently ranks 12th in Division III women's track and field this season.
Hannah Debian (West Springfield, Mass.) and
Katelynn Taylor (Franklin, Mass.) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the shot put to highlight Friday's action. Debian posted a toss of 12.76-meters, while Taylor followed suit with a mark of 12.46-meters.
In the pole vault,
Jillian Scott (Westhampton, Mass.) registered a tenth place finish clearing 3.37-meters, while
Autumn Bacik (Watertown, Conn.) took 20th clearing 3.22-meters.
Springfield had three student-athletes compete in the 600-meter run as
Peyton Knott (Leicester, Mass.)crossed the line 13th in 1:40.76,
Taylor Gibson (Billerica, Mass.) finished 16th in 1:41.98 and
Leah Castle (Ashford, Conn.) finished 19th in 1:43.23.
Sofia Aguilar (Norwalk, Conn.),
Ella Couchon (Windsor Locks, Conn.),
Natalia Marchand (Hubardston, Mass.) and
Madison Mulas (Wilmington, Mass.) recorded an 11th place finish in the 4x200-meter relay. Aguilar finished her day with a 36th place finish in the 60-meter dash in 8.24.
Springfield will return to action tomorrow to complete the New England Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships at 10:00 am.
