North Dartmouth, Mass. - March 28, 2026 - The Springfield College women's track and field team opened up the 2026 outdoor track and field season at the UMass Dartmouth Corsair Classic on both Friday and Saturday afternoons as Hannah Debian (West Springfield, Mass.) and Grace Flattery (Swansea, Mass.) led the Pride with first place finishes.
Debian and Madilynn Van Etten (Cumberland, R.I.) finished second and third in the hammer throw with marks of 42.71-meters and 39.36-meters, respectively. Debian went on to win the shot put with a throw of 11.78-meters while Charlotte Gerow (Tolland, Conn.) finished fifth at 10.50-meters and Emma Barnes (Saco, Maine) came in sixth at 10.45-meters.
Barnes came in third in the discus throw with a mark of 34.27-meters as Gerow finished fifth and Van Etten finished eighth with throws of 32.43-meters and 28.56-meters, respectively, among a field of 42 participants. Bailey McDevitt (Wakefield, Mass.) finished seventh in the javelin throw, recording a mark of 31.44-meters.
Flattery won the high jump with a mark of 1.64-meters which currently stands at fifth in Division III at the start of the outdoor season. Autumn Bacik (Watertown, Conn.) finished eighth in the long jump with a mark of 4.65-meters while Deanna Brightman (Swansea, Mass.) came in ninth with a jump of 4.32-meters.
On the track, Mirabel Brunell (Clifton Park, N.Y.) came in eighth with a time of 5:13.01 in the 1500-meter run. In a pool of 42 runners, Meghan Sullivan (Easthampton, Mass.) finished 11th in 5:18.11, Hannah McCarthy (Beverly, Mass.) finished 12th in 5:21.24, Kayleigh Jensen (Salem, Conn.) finished 14th in 5:24.55 and Sara St. Germain (Somers, Conn.) came in 15th in 5:26.72. Brunell also competed in the 400-meter hurdles finishing sixth after crossing the finish line at 1:16.57.
Kristina Kyle (Watertown, Conn.) placed second in the 5000-meter run in 18:32.90 as Brooke Ferrare (Waterbury, Conn.) came in fifth at 19:14.78. Sullivan and St. Germain finished ninth and tenth at 19:30.07 and 20:04.69, respectively.
The Pride will host the SC Classic on Saturday at 10:30 am.
