Springfield, Mass. – August 5, 2026 – The Springfield College women's track and field team had six student-athletes named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) 2025-26 Academic All-District Women's Cross Country/Track and Field Team.

This year's honorees included senior Kristina Kyle (Watertown, Conn.), junior Katherine DeFosse (Worcester, Mass.), and sophomores Hannah Debian (West Springfield, Mass.), Natalia Marchand (Hubbardston, Mass.), Madilynn Van Etten (Three Rivers, Mass.) and Sara St. Germain (Somers, Conn.).

All six were first time recipients of the award as the Academic All-District® Women's Cross Country/Track and Field Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the track and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Kyle, a physical therapy major with a 3.98 grade point average, was the NEWMAC Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Year after a 14th place finish at the conference championships with a time of 22:53.08. She was only the second women's cross country runner in program history to earn the Rookie of the Year award from the league as she joined Springfield Hall of Famer Marisa Clapp Jones. She had her best finished of the cross country season at the James Earley Invitational when she took runner-up honors in 18:27.4 and also posted a seventh place finish at the Conn College Invite in 22:35.6. On the track, Kyle ranked in the top-31 regionally during the indoor season in the mile (24th – 5:08.47) and the 800-meter run (31st – 2:20.89) and the top-42 regionally during the outdoor season in the 800-meter run (25th – 2:18.89), 1,500-meter run (26th – 4:45.14) and the 5,000-meter run (42nd – 18L05.87).

DeFosse, a psychology major with a 3.89 grade point average, earned All-America honors at both the 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field National Championships and the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championships making her mark as one of the top hurdlers in New England and the country. At Indoor Nationals, DeFosse placed fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.66-seconds. During her prelim heat in which she clocked a 8.54, her time marked the eighth fastest time in Division III women's track and field history and fourth fastest ever at the NCAA Championships. At Outdoor Nationals, DeFosse collected her third career All-America award with a school record time of 13.78-seconds in the 100-meter hurdles finishing fourth nationally in the event. At the regional level, DeFosse took home the NEWMAC title in the 100-meter hurdles and was a USTFCCCA All-Region performer during the indoor season in the 60-meter hurdles and 60-meter dash as well as the 100-meter dash and 100-meter hurdles during the outdoor season. She ranked first regionally with her time in the 60-meter hurdles (8.54) and first regionally in the 100-meter hurdles (13.82).

Debian, a physician assistant studies major with a 3.85 grade point average, earned Second Team All-Conference honors in the shot put  during her sophomore season, while also taking home USTFCCCA All-Region accolades in the weight throw during the indoor season and in the shot put during the outdoor season. Regionally, Debian ranked seventh and ninth in the weight throw and shot put, respectively during the indoor season, while ranking eighth in the shot put (12.14-meters), tenth in the hammer (45.17-meters) and 28th in the discus (31.78-meters) during the outdoor season.

Marchand, an exercise science major with a 3.98 grade point average, put together a strong indoor campaign for the Pride ranking amongst the top-31 in the region in three different events. She was ninth fastest in the 400-meter dash (57.75), 12th fastest in the 200-meter dash (25.81) and 31st fastest in the 60-meter dash (8.14).

Van Etten, an athletic training major with a 4.00 grade point average, had a strong sophomore campaign on the track ranking amongst some of the best in the region during both the indoor and outdoor seasons. Van Etten ranked 16th in the region during the indoor season in the weight throw (13.70-meters) as well as 19th in the region during the outdoor season in the hammer throw (41.65-meters) and 27th in the discus throw (32.04-meters).

St. Germain, an art therapy major with a 3.95 grade point average, posted her best time of the cross country season at the James Earley Invitational with a mark of 19:53.1. She also clocked times of 12:32.1 at the Suffolk Short Course Meet, a time of 24:52.5 at the NEWMAC Championships and a time of 25:09.8 at the NCAA Regional Championships. On the track, she was amongst the top-50 during the outdoor season in the 10,000-meter run ranking 44th with a time of 41:48.06.
