Amherst, Mass. – April 13, 2025 – The Springfield College women's track and field team competed at the 2025 Silfen Invitational at Connecticut College and the UMass Lafreniere Commonwealth Invitational over the weekend.
Silfen Invitational
Springfield had seven entries at the Silfen Invitational on Friday afternoon.
Maddie Shea (Amherst, Mass.) has the best finish for the Pride as she took ninth in the 5,000-meter run in 17:46.18, a qualifying time for New England D3's, while
Meghan Sullivan (Easthampton, Mass.) also posted a New England D3 qualifying time of 40:37.52 in the 10,000-meter run.
Kristina Kyle (Watertown, Conn.) and
Elina Olmedo (Wakefield, Mass.) were separated by just 0.13-seconds in the 1,500-meter run with times of 4:53.63 and 4:53.76, respectively, while
Peyton Knott (Leicester, Mass.) – 2:23.89 –
Taylor Gibson (Billerica, Mass.) – 2:25.38 – and
Leah Castle (Ashford, Conn.) – 2:26.01 – all competed in the 800-meter run.
UMass Lafreniere Commonwealth Invitational
Katherine DeFosse (Worcester, Mass.) had the best finish at UMass for the Pride as she took eighth in the 100-meter hurdles in a New England D3 qualifying time of 14.82, while Olmedo clocked a qualifying time of 2:20.16 in the 800-meter run.
Ella Couchon (Windsor Locks, Conn.) paced Springfield in the 200-meter dash in 26.77,
Julia Brillo (Ludlow, Mass.) had the best finish in the 400-meter dash in 1:00.55, Castle led the Pride in the 1,500-meter run in 5:05.34 and
Kayleigh Jensen (Salem, Conn.) had the best finish in the 5,000-meter run in 19:57.79.
Mackenzie DiDonato (Thomaston, Conn.), Abby Hemstrought (Clinton, Mass.), Maeve D'Arcy (West Hartford, Conn.) and Brillo combined for a time of 52.38 for eighth in the 4x100-meter relay.
Samantha Paul (Albany, N.Y.) had the best finish in the field events today as she took sixth in the triple jump with a qualifying leap of 11.41-meters, while
Jillian Scott (Westhampton, Mass.) cleared 3.37-meters in the pole vault and
Elizabeth Lewelling (Palmdale, Calif.) posted a leap of 4.98-meters in the long jump.
Hannah Debian (West Springfield, Mass.) registered a New England D3 qualifying mark of 11.71-meters in the shot put and also guided Springfield in the discus with a toss of 31.58-meters.
Bailey McDevitt (Wakefield, Mass.) registered a toss of 32.53-meters in the javelin and
Madilynn VanEtten (Cumberland, R.I.) registered a throw of 40.80-meters in the hammer to round out the highlights for the Pride.
Springfield will next travel to Hartford for Saturday's Trinity College Invitational.
