Baseball Walked Off By Keene State in Non-Conference Tilt

Keene, NH – April 23, 2025 – The Springfield College baseball team was walked off by Keene State College, 4-3, in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon on the road.

Keene State improved to 16-14, while Springfield fell to 10-20 in its final non-conference game of the season.

Nate Garafalo (Kinderhook, N.Y.) launched his sixth home run of the season to power Springfield's offense this afternoon as he went 2-for-5 at the plate with three RBI. At the top of the lineup, Michael Lepere (Beacon, N.Y.) went 2-for-4 and scored a pair of runs.

Garafalo's two-run home run came in the top of the first inning after Lepere led off the game with a single to center. A trio of RBI singles, however, by Keene State over the next two innings gave the hosts a 3-2 edge.

Springfield ultimately tied the score at three in the top of the seventh on an RBI knock from Garafalo that plated Lepere as he reached on an infield single to shortstop, stole second and scored on Garafalo's knock to right.

Ethan Gray (Lincoln, R.I.) allowed a lead off walk to Keene State before the runner was moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. A single through the right side from Evan McCue plated the game winning run securing the 4-3 win for the Owls.

Springfield will travel to WPI for a NEWMAC doubleheader beginning at 3:00 pm on the campus of Clark University.
