New London, Conn. – May 4, 2025 – Highlighted by a record breaking performance by
Jillian Scott (Westhampton, Mass.) in the pole vault, the Springfield College women's track and field team finished 12th overall at the New England Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships over the weekend.
Springfield produced a team score of 24.5 points and was the second highest scoring team from the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) only behind the host Bears (50.5).
Scott, who had tied the school record in the pole vault earlier this season, cleared 3.55-meters to break the program record over the weekend finishing in third place in the event.
Samantha Paul (Albany, N.Y.) also registered a runner-up finish in the triple jump as she produced a mark of 11.84-meters.
Autumn Bacik (Watertown, Conn.) competed in three different events finished 10th in the long jump with a leap of 5.29-meters, 12th in the high jump clearing 1.51-meters, 14th in the pole vault clearing 3.10-meters, while
Hannah Debian (West Springfield, Mass.) paced the Pride in the throws finishing 16th in the hammer (40.96-meters) and 19th in the shot put (11.28-meters).
On the track,
Katherine DeFosse (Worcester, Mass.) registered a runner-up finish in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.35-seconds, while
Kristina Kyle (Watertown, Conn.) took eighth in the 1,500-meter run in 4:47.87.
Julia Brillo (Ludlow, Mass.) took tenth in the 400-meter dash in 59.68,
Elina Olmedo (Wakefield, Mass.) and
Taylor Gibson (Billerica, Mass.) finished 15th (2:20.24) and 19th (2:23.29), respectively, and
Maddie Shea (Amherst, Mass.) came in 16th in the 5,000-meter run in 18:44.84.
Meghan Sullivan (Easthampton, Mass.) crossed the line 22nd overall in the 10,000-meter run in 41:16.31 and
Ella Couchon (Windsor Locks, Conn.) took 23rd in the 200-meter dash in 26.48 to round out the individual highlights.
The 4x800-meter relay team of
Leah Castle (Ashford, Conn.),
Peyton Knott (Leicester, Mass.), Gibson and Kyle registered a time of 9:45.41, the 4x400-meter relay team of
Natalia Marchand (Hubbardston, Mass.), Couchon, Olmedo and Brillo clocked a time of 4:06.05 and the 4x100-meter relay team of DeFosse, Couchon,
Madison Mulas (Wilmington, Mass.) and
Abby Hemstrought (Clinton, Mass.) notched a time of 49.86.
Next weekend, Springfield will travel to Williams College for the FIRE Meet on May 9-10.
