Springfield, Mass. - August 29, 2025 - The Springfield College men's soccer team started off their season with a win against Albertus Magnus, 3-1, on Friday night at Brock-Affleck Field.
Springfield is now 1-0 and picked up its first win over Albertus Magnus in the all-time series, while the Falcons dropped to 0-1 to start its season.
Each of the Pride's three goals came from different student-athletes.
Parker Thornton (Malden, Mass.),
Paul Aguillon (Savannah, Ga.),
and Connor Policarpio (Bristol, Conn.) each had a goal while Aguillon and Thornton added assists.
Noah Pote (Washington, Conn.) had seven saves in the win.
Springfield scored twelve minutes into the game when Aguillon kicked a long ball to Thornton who headed it in for the first goal of the night. Aguillon opened up the second half with a quick goal, his first with the Pirde, assisted by Thornton.
About 15 minutes into the second half, Albertus scored to put it within one of the Pride before
Policarpio scored his first goal of the season off of a centering pass from
Robby Herrera (Islandia, N.Y.) which was the first of his career.
The Falcons outshot the Pride 14 to 12, but Springfield had seven more corner kicks than Albertus.
The Pride will face New Paltz on Sunday afternoon in a non-conference matchup at home.
