Springfield, Mass. - August 31, 2025 - The Springfield College men's soccer team was defeated by New Paltz, 3-1, in a non-conference game on Sunday afternoon.
The Pride are now 1-1 on the season while the Hawks improve to 2-0 overall.Â
New Paltz scored just five minutes into the game when Owen Joyce buried a shot off his left past
Noah Pote (Washington, Conn.) for the early 1-0 edge. The play was set up off a throw in from the left side following matching yellow cards from both sides. They started to pull ahead in the second half scoring two goals within 15 minutes from one another.Â
Connor Policarpio (Bristol, Conn.) scored Springfield's lone goal of the game with less than three-minutes remaining off of a pass from
Jared Kelly (Islip Terrace, N.Y.), but there wasn't enough time for Springfield to get back into the game.Â
The Hawks outshot the Pride 21-5Â and were also awarded eight more corners than Springfield. Pote had three saves in the loss.Â
Springfield College will next travel to Wentworth on September 6 for a Saturday afternoon matchup at 1:00 pm.
