Springfield, Mass. - August 30, 2025 - The Springfield College field hockey team started the 2025 season with a 5-0 win against Simmons.
The Pride starts their season off at 1-0 while Simmons drops to 0-1.
Hailey Gaydos (Newington, Conn.),
Clare Moore (New Preston, Conn.),
Audrey Hayes (Holden, Mass.),
Nicolette Morlock (Rexford, N.Y.), and
Emily Gorsuch (Yarmouth Port, Mass.) all scored goals for the Pride. Moore and Gorsuch picked up the first goals of their careers. In the cage,
Sam Orcutt (Forestdale, Mass.) picked up her first career win despite not having to make a stop.
Gaydos scored three minutes into the game after stealing a pass from a defender inside the circle and lifting it past the goalkeeper.
After a quiet rest of the first quarter, Moore scored off of a pass from
Amber Wolkner (Farmington, Conn.) during a penalty corner at 20:52. Hayes then scored four minutes later from a pass from
Sarah Goldstein (Cheshire, Conn.) who found her at the post.
In the third quarter,
Ava Coppola (Southington, Conn.) got the ball to Morlock who netted one off of a penalty corner. With two minutes left in the game,
Camdyn Despres (Chichester, NH) got the ball to a wide open Gorsuch who scored the final goal of the game.
The Pride outshot the Sharks by 21 and had seven more penalty corners.
Springfield will host nationally-ranked No.16 Amherst in a non-conference game on Wednesday night at 6:30 pm.
