Men's Soccer Earns NEWMAC Win Over Salve Regina, 1-0

Newport, R.I. – October 10, 2026 – The Springfield College men's soccer team earned a 1-0 victory over Salve Regina University on Saturday evening, securing a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) win on the road.

Springfield improves to 5-6-1 overall and 2-2 in the conference while Salve Regina falls to 3-4-3 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

After a scoreless first half, the Pride broke through early in the second half when senior forward Connor Policarpio (Bristol, Conn.) found the back of the net off an assist from Aidan Hallinan (New Windsor, N.Y.) in the 48th minute. The goal was Policarpio's team-leading sixth of the season and proved to be the difference in the contest.

Springfield generated six shots in the opening half while goalkeeper Tommy Fenton (East Hampton, Conn.) helped keep the Seahawks off the scoreboard with a save on a header from Chase Zorner late in the half.

The Pride continued to apply pressure after the break, with Policarpio leading the way offensively. Springfield recorded nine shots in the second half and finished the contest with 15 total shots, six of which were on goal. Fenton and the Springfield defense held strong throughout the second half as Salve Regina looked for an equalizer.

Fenton recorded six saves across 90 minutes of action to earn the shutout, while the Pride limited the Seahawks to six shots on target.

The Pride will look to carry the momentum from Saturday's win a week from today against WPI.
