New London, Conn. - October 7, 2026 - The Springfield College women's soccer team earned a 1-0 victory over Coast Guard on Wednesday evening at Nitchman Field.
With the win, Springfield moves to 3-7-0 overall and 2-2-0 in NEWMAC play, while Coast Guard drops to 2-4-4 overall and 0-2-2 in conference play.
Springfield controlled much of the opening half and broke through in the 39th minute when Adyson Wiseman (Waterford, Conn.) found the back of the net off assists from Reese Croutworst (Halifax, Vt.) and Chloe Mastrangelo (Glastonbury, Conn.) to give the Pride a 1-0 lead.
The Pride carried the one-goal advantage into halftime and continued to pressure the Bears throughout the second half. Springfield registered 12 shots after halftime, but none of them would go as the Pride would still hold on to secure the 1-0 victory. and finished holding a 19-7 edge over Coast Guard while the Bears led 5-4 on corner kicks.
In net, Gracie DeRing (Portland, Conn.) registered three saves to preserve the shutout while Julia Little made eight saves in the losing effort. Springfield held a 19-7 edge over Coast Guard while the Bears led 5-4 on corner kicks.
Springfield returns to action Saturday against MIT on Brock-Affleck Field at 1:00 pm.
