Tickets On Sale for Friday's NEWMAC Women's Basketball Semifinal Contest

Springfield, Mass. – February 26, 2026 – The Springfield College women's basketball team has punched its ticket to tomorrow's New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) semifinal round and tickets are now on sale for those interested in attending the game in Northampton.

Women's basketball (16-10), the fifth seed in this year's NEWMAC Championship, defeated fourth-seeded MIT on Wednesday evening and will travel to top-seeded and nationally-ranked No. 5/7 Smith College (25-1) on Friday night at 7:00 pm in Ainsworth Gymnasium.

Through a partnership with the NEWMAC Office and Hometown Tickets, fans can purchase tickets digitally before arriving at the field online at: https://newmacsports.com/sports/2023/10/17/ticket%20box%20office.aspx

Springfield and Smith last met in the postseason on February 24, 2023 also in the NEWMAC semifinals with the host Bears coming away with a 61-49 win over the Pride. Smith has won ten of the last 11 meetings against Springfield dating back to the 2019-20 season, however Springfield did defeat Smith in Northampton 70-68 in Northampton on January 24, 2024. The Pride also topped Smith in the NEWMAC semifinals during the 2018-19 season also in Ainsworth Gymnasium. In the all-time series, Springfield does hold a 30-24 advantage in a span of 54 games that dates back to 1995.

Smith will enter Friday's game at 25-1 overall having won 11 straight. The Bears are also 15-0 playing in Northampton this season and have gone 80-4 in Ainsworth Gymnasium over the last five seasons. One of those four losses came to Springfield in 2024.

The NEWMAC encourages fans to purchase their mobile tickets in advance of the event to streamline the entry process on game day. Spectators may purchase their mobile tickets online on site but no cash option will be available. General admission tickets will cost $10 for anyone attending who is over the age of 12. Children under 12 and NEWMAC students with a valid institutional ID are free and do not need to purchase a mobile ticket.

Tickets will be scanned at the venue approximately 90 minutes prior to the start of each contest on Thursday evening.

The winner of Friday's contest will advance to the 2026 NEWMAC Championship title game slated for Sunday afternoon at a site to be determined. In the other semifinal tomorrow night, second-seeded Babson College will host third-seeded Clark University at 7:00 pm in Wellesley.
