Softball Announces 2026 Schedule with Opening Day Set for March 7 at Home

Springfield, Mass. - February 6, 2026 - The Springfield College softball program alongside head coach Sam Garcia G'25 have released the 2026 schedule with opening day set for March 7 at home against Williams.

FULL SCHEDULE 

The Pride will play a 38-game schedule which includes 20 contests from the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) and 18 games against non-conference opponents. All of Springfield's games will be played as doubleheaders except when the Pride travel to Clermont, Fla. where they will face two opponents for a single game each day. Along with Springfield, seven of the Pride's 2026 opponents made the 2025 NCAA Division III Softball Championship including MIT, Simpson, UW-Oshkosh, UW-Stevens Point, UW-Whitewater, Western New England and Williams. 

Simpson, UW-Oshkosh, UW-Stevens Point, UW-Whitewater, and Williams all are featured in the top-25 of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division IIII National preseason poll.

A season ago, Springfield earned an at-large berth to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament after accumulating 30 wins in the season. Two student-athletes were named to the NFCA All-Region teams including senior pitcher Amelia DeRosa (Miller Place, N.Y.)

Springfield will open up the season on March 7 with a home doubleheader against Williams before heading down to Florida for an 8-game stint. The Pride will play UW-Whitewater and Southern Maine on March 15 before playing William Paterson and UW-Stevens Point on the 16th. On March 18, Springfield will face Geneso and Simpson before finishing out the trip against UW-Oshkosh and Keene State on the 19th. 

When the Pride returns, they will host Eastern Connecticut on March 24 and Salve Regina on March 28 for the first NEWMAC matchup of the season. They then will travel to Western New England on March 31 and Clark on April 3 before hosting Wellesley on the 4th. Springfield hits the road again with doubleheaders on April 10 at MIT (to be played at Boston University) and April 11 at Wheaton (Mass.). 

On April 15, Springfield will host Amherst before hosting Smith on the 17th. They will later travel to Emerson on April 18 before the Pride plays host to Coast Guard on the 24th and Manhattanville on the 28th. Springfield will close out the season at WPI on May 1 and Babson at home on the 2nd before the NEWMAC Championship.

The NEWMAC Championship starts with a single elimination play-in game followed by a double elimination tournament and will begin on May 4 with a champion being crowned on May 10. The winner of the NEWMAC title will earn the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Softball Championship.
