Deguire Secures All-America Honors on Day One of NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships

Cedar Rapids, Iowa – March 13, 2026 – Highlighted by Jacob Deguire (Schenectady, N.Y.) securing his third All-America honor, the Springfield College wrestling team saw six student-athletes compete on day one of the 2026 NCAA Division III National Championships in Iowa today.

Deguire, the fifth seed at 174 began his day with a third period pin of Zach Needles of Messiah, but fell in the quarterfinal round to fourth-seeded Ty Finn of NYU, 4-1, in sudden victory. He bounced back with a first period pin over Nolen Zeigler of Lycoming to secure All-America honors. He will wrestle tomorrow morning to try and move up on the podium.

Five others wrestled for the Pride today. In his debut on the national stage, Esuar Ordonez (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) competed at 133 and earned a pair of wins before bowing out in the wrestlebacks tonight. He started his day with a 4-2 decision over Connor Krueger of St. John's (Minn.), but fell to top-seeded Garrett Totten of TCNJ by pin. He wrestled back with a dominant 20-4 techincal fall of Chase Creque of Baldwin Wallace, but ninth-seeded Chance Suddeth of Augsburg ended his run by major decision.

Ben Katz (Medford, N.Y.) had a similar day at 285 pounds as he began with a 7-5 decision over Mike Welsh of Brockport before falling by pin to third-seeded Josh Harkless of RIT. He earned his way to tonight with a second period pin of Thomas Lunt of John Carroll, but his run ended by pin as he dropped tonight's match to sixth-seeded Titus Walters of Wabash.

Three others competed for Springfield but went 0-2 on the day to wrap up their seasons. Ty Stewart (Dracut, Mass.) competed at 149 edged by both Avery Leonard of Oneonta (7-3 decision) and Jovanni Greco of Ohio Northern (8-5 sudden victory). Ryan Kozdra (Mahwah, N.J.) competed at 157 and fell by a pair of major decisions to Jaryn Hartranft of Wilkes and Luke Swan of Whitewater. Nick Rogers (Watertown, N.Y.)competed at 197, but fell by decision to Samuel West of Central (Iowa), 6-0, and Cal Dorota of Wartburg, 9-1.
