Springfield, Mass. – March 27, 2026 – After a historic season, Springfield College wrestling head coach
Jason Holder was named as the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Region I Coach of the Year and National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Region I Coach of the Year.
Additionally, Holder's assistants Will Hughes and
Ryan Peters were also recognized as the NWCA regional assistant coaching staff of the year.
The Springfield staff guided the Pride to an overall record of 15-1 in dual meets, to a runner-up finish at the Budd Whitehill National Duals for the first time since 2012, to victories over five ranked programs and most impressively to the program's first NCAA Region I Championship title.
Springfield finished the season ranked tenth by the NWCA in the dual team rankings and 12th by the NWCA in the team tournament rankings. The Pride had nine student-athletes produce All-Region finishes and saw six qualify for the NCAA Division III National Championships. At the conclusion of the regional meet,
Jacob Deguire (Schenectady, N.Y.) earned the honor for most pins with five and capped his career as Division III's all-time pin leader with 105.
Deguire went on to pace Springfield at the national championships as he earned his third All-America accolade of his career. Deguire also became the third in program history to become a three time All-American at the Division III Championships joining Mike Gaeta '07 and Keith Poloskey '02.
As a team, Springfield finished 18th overall in the team standings at nationals.
