Auburndale, Fla. – March 18, 2026 – The Springfield College baseball team completed its game from Monday that got rained out against Mount Saint Vincent this morning at the Lake Myrtle Complex. Springfield led 9-4 when the game got called and then today went on to complete the win by a 14-6 final.
Springfield improved to 8-3 on the year and picked up its second win in four games in Florida. Mount Saint Vincent dropped to 1-7.
Springfield's offense saw seven batters produce two or more hits.
Kyle Mitchell (Wallingford, Conn.) went 3-for-4, while
Michael Lepere (Beacon, N.Y.),
Chris Balchius (Norwalk, Conn.),
Nate Garafalo (Kinderhook, N.Y.),
Jack Dunaisky (Longmeadow, Mass.), Tyler Casey (Wallingford, Conn.) and
Luke Barone (Monroe, N.Y.) all registered two hits apiece. Balchius came across the plate four times and stole four bases, while Garafalo notched three RBI. Meanwhile, Lepere lifted his second homer over the fence in the victory.
Springfield used five pitchers over the two day marathon with
Liam Skribiski-Banack (South Deerfield, Mass.)earning the win out of the pen as he tossed two frames, scattered three hits and struck out one. The Pride pitching staff combined for eight strikeouts in the victory.
The Pride produced single runs in the first and the second which included Lepere's round tripper to right. Mount Saint Vincent responded with a four spot in the second highlighted by an RBI single by Will Granata. The Dolphins quickly loaded the bases before a walk, single and double play accounted for their other three runs of the frame.
Springfield then answered with five runs of its own in the third as RBI knocks by Garafalo and Lepere knotted the score at four before
Dan Surette (Braintree, Mass.) drove in bother Lepere and
Jacob Wagner (Westfield, Mass.) on a hit to right for the 6-4 lead. Barone the scored Springfield's seventh run on a throw down to second resulting in a pick off play.
At that point the game was called due to thunderstorms and was resumed this morning.
Springfield put together single runs in the sixth and seventh before putting the game out of reach with a three spot in the top of the ninth. A single and two walks set up three straight wild pitches with the bases loaded to account for the 14-6 final.
Springfield will play Hamilton College tomorrow at 6:00 pm at Northeast Regional Park.
