Auburndale, Mass. - March 19, 2026 - The Springfield College baseball team was defeated by Hamilton in a Thursday night matchup at Northeast Regional Park, 14-6.
Hamilton improves to 2-5 on the season while the Pride drops to 8-4.
Nate Garafalo (Kinderhook, N.Y.) led the Pride at the plate going 3-for-5 with a double as Tyler Casey (Wallingford, Conn.) and Michael Lepere (Beacon, N.Y.) each recorded two hits and two runs scored. Lepere, Jack Dunaisky (Longmeadow, Mass.) and Nicholas Lloyd (Easthampton, Mass.) drove in two runs apiece. Tanner Quinn got the win on the mound for the Continentals after letting up three hits and two runs as he struck out three.
The Pride opened it up in the top of the third when Casey singled with two outs before Lepere hit two-run homerun over the right field fence to go up 2-0. Hamilton then exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the inning after stringing together six hits to take a 7-2 lead.
The Continentals continued to add to their lead, tacking on seven more runs through the sixth to go up 14-2.
Springfield began to chip away in the top of the seventh when Dunaisky singled to centerfield to drive in Ryan Duffy (Stafford Springs, Conn.) and Casey before Lloyd followed up with a single to bring in Dunaisky and Lepere as the score moved to 14-6, but it wasn't enough as Hamilton left the Pride scorless in the final two innings of play to win it. .
Springfield will play Augustana (IL) tomorrow at 12:00 pm to close out their trip to Florida.
