Auburndale, Fla. - March 20, 2026 - The Springfield College baseball team finished out its trip to Florida with a win against Augustana (IL) at Chain of Lakes Park, 5-4.
The Pride improve to 9-4 overall while the Vikings drop to 10-4 on the season.
Michael Lepere (Beacon, N.Y.) and Dan Surette (Braintree, Mass.) both went 3-for-4 as Lepere scored two runs and Surrette added another. Tyler Casey (Wallingford, Conn.) and Jack Dunaisky (Longmeadow, Mass.) each notched two hits while Casey recorded a two-run homerun.
Josh Mayo (Westfield, Mass.) got the start and the win for the Pride as he let up four hits and struck out five across four scoreless innings while Aaron Little (Ludlow, Mass.) recorded his fourth save of the season in the win.
The Pride began the scoring in the bottom of the third as Casey launched a homerun over the right field fence, also bringing in Surette to take a 2-0 lead. Nate Garafalo (Kinderhook, N.Y.) then followed that up with a double to left center to score Nicholas Lloyd (Easthampton, Mass.) and Lepere.
Springfield tacked on another run in the bottom of the fourth as a double down the line from Lloyd brought in Lepere to go up 5-4.
Augustana threatened later in the game, as they scored in the sixth and eighth to cut Springfield's lead to two, 5-3. The Vikings then tacked on one more in the top of the ninth, but a strong start for the Pride led Springfield to a 5-4 win.
Springfield is back home on Wednesday against Keene State at 3:30 pm on Archie Allen Field.
