Springfield, Mass. - March 25, 2026 - The Springfield College baseball team was defeated by nonconference opponent Keene State on Wednesday afternoon on Archie Allen Field, 19-1.
Keene State improves to 7-9 on the season while Springfield drops to 9-5 overall.
The Owls scattered five hits for the Pride as Chris Balchius (Norwalk, Conn.), Tyler Casey (Wallingford, Conn.), Michael Lepere (Beacon, N.Y.), Jack Dunaisky (Longmeadow, Mass.) and Dan Surette (Braintree, Mass.) would record one apiece.
Daniel Cantafi got the win on the mound as Keene State's five pitchers combined to allow five hits and one run scored while striking out eight.
After being down by four in the second, Dunaisky would put the only run on the board for Springfield as he launched a homerun over the left field fence to make it 4-1.
Keene State then went on to add six more runs in the top of the third as a triple from Evan Cali sparked the big inning to extend the lead to 10-1. After a scoreless fourth and fifth, the Owls would go on to add nine more runs through the ninth to take the game 19-1.
The Pride will look to bounce back with a game against Elms tomorrow at 3:30 pm on Archie Allen Field.
