Men's Lacrosse Downed By Babson

Babson Park, Mass. - March 21, 2026 - The Springfield College men's lacrosse team was defeated by New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) opponent Babson in a Saturday afternoon matchup, 21-6. 

With the win, the Beavers roll to 8-0 overall while Springfield drops to 5-4. 

Bryan Stensrud (LaGrangeville, N.Y.) and Ryan Berkel (Sudbury, Mass.) led the Pride with two goals while Reece Whitney (Newton, Mass.) notched two assists and two caused turnovers. Dylan Brown (Bristol, Conn.) also recorded two caused turnovers while Angus Oliveira (Little Compton, R.I.) and Sal Posillico (Farmingdale, N.Y.) had four ground balls apiece. Joseph Grenier (Cheshire, Conn.) recorded 13 saves in the loss. 

The Beavers were dominant throughout the entire game, holding the differential in shots (64-31), ground balls (57-25) and faceoffs (27-31).

Babson scored the first goal of the game just less than 30 seconds into the first quarter before Whitney found Berkel who tied it up at one. The Beavers then went on to outscore the Pride 5-1 in the first as Brady Soldo (Shrewsbury, Mass.) notched the other goal for the Pride. 

After being down 6-2, Springfield opened up the second quarter with a goal five minutes in as Soldo found Stensrud who found the back of the net. The teams then went on to exchange goals as Matt Webb (Northport, N.Y.) scored a man-up goal as Babson still led 8-4 going into the halftime break. 

Springfield scored two more goals in the third third quarter, but was left scoreless in the fourth as the Beavers took full control of the game. Babson went on to outscore Springfield 13-2 over the final 30 minutes of play and get the win, 21-6. 

The Pride will host MIT on Saturday at 7:00 pm on Stagg Field.
