Milton, Mass. - April 16, 2026 - The Springfield College baseball team defeated Curry in ten innings on Thursday afternoon, 8-6.
Springfield improves to 18-9 overall while Curry drops to 6-17 on the season.
Jack Dunaisky (Longmeadow, Mass.) was 3-for-5 with a run scored and two RBI while Chris Balchius (Norwalk, Conn.), Adam Crocker (Windsor, Nova Scotia) and Kyle Mitchell (Wallingford, Conn.) notched two hits a piece and combined for five runs scored and three RBI.
Springfield's pitching staff was strong in relief as Ryan Delaney (Ellington, Conn.) went 4.0 innings striking out seven, scattering four hits and did not let up a run. Aaron Little (Ludlow, Mass.) was credited with the win with 1.1 innings pitched as he only allowed one hit and struck out three and Crocker got his first save of the season to help the Pride to the win.
Balchius led off the game with a double to right center before stealing third. He was then brought in by a ground out from Crocker as Springfield took the lead in the top of the first. Curry equalized in the second and then back-to-back walks followed by a triple sparked three more runs in the third as the Colonials took a 4-1 lead.
Springfield began to chip away as Mitchell scored on a sacrifice fly from Balchius in the third and then scored again in the fourth on an error by the pitcher. In the top of the seventh, Luke Barone (Monroe, N.Y.) led off the inning with a single and scored on a sacrifice fly from Ryan Duffy (Stafford Springs, Conn.) before a single from Mitchell brought in Dunaisky as the Pride took a 5-4.
The Colonials scored one in the bottom of the eighth to tie it at five and eventually force extra innings. The Pride went on to add three in the top of the tenth as Balchius doubled and was then brought in by a single from Tyler Casey (Wallingford, Conn.) before a single from Dunaisky brought in Casey and Crocker as Springfield went up 8-5. Curry went on score one in the bottom of the tenth but it wasn't enough as Springfield got the win, 8-6.
Springfield heads to No. 3 Salve Regina on Saturday for a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) doubleheader.
