Men's Soccer Defeats Curry, 2-1

Milton, Mass. - September 8, 2026 - The Springfield College men's soccer team defeated Curry, 2-1, on Tuesday night at Walter M. Katz Field for their first win of the 2026 season.

The Pride improve to 1-1-1 on the season, while the Colonels drop to 1-1-2 following the loss.

Cooper Kassan (Huntington, N.Y.) scored his second goal in two games in the win while Cole Sampson (Hingham, Mass.) scored the game winner for his first goal of the year. Head Coach Tommy Crabill notched his 50th career win with the Pride.

The Pride struck early when Kassan found the back of the net in the 4th minute. Springfield's offense would continue to apply pressure, but Curry's defense held the Pride off the board for the remainder of the first half.

The Colonels netted the equalizer early in the second half, scoring on a penalty kick to tie the game at one just over ten minutes into the half. The game remained tied until the 85th minute, when Springfield earned their own penalty kick which Sampson converted to give the Pride a 2-1 lead that would hold until full time.

Tommy Fenton (East Hampton, Conn.) made one save in the win while Springfield outshot the Colonels 19-8 and the Pride's defense held Curry to two shots on goal.

The Pride will play their first home game of the season on Saturday, September 12, when they take on Suffolk at 7:00 pm.
