Box Score
Worcester, Mass. – October 9, 2010 – Eric Stalsburg found the back of the net in the 83rd minute to send the game into overtime as the Springfield College men’s soccer team rallied for a 2-2 draw at Clark University in a crucial New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match on Saturday afternoon.
The tie leaves the Cougars mark at 5-5-2 and 1-1-2 in league play, while the Pride are now 9-3-1 and 1-1-2 in conference action.
Clark opened the scoring in the 29th minute when Baran Doenmez took a feed from Jacob Stern and found the back of the net for an early Cougar advantage.
Things stayed that way until the early moments of the second half when Ryan Malone and Scott Donofrio teamed up for Springfield to even the score at the 50:07 mark.
The Scarlet and White answered back almost immediately, when Adrian Blackadar set up Doenmez to give the Cougars a 2-1 lead.
Clark looked to be in position to collect the win until Stalsburg registered an unassisted tally in the 83rd minute to send the match into overtime.
Both teams had scoring chances in extra time but neither could convert. Springfield held a slight edge in shots (15-13) but the teams were even corner kicks with six apiece.  Cougar netminder Ryan King made four stops for Clark while Chris Walton turned back five shots for the Pride.
Springfield returns to action on Wednesday when they host Williams.
