Phoenix, Ariz. – March 17, 2012 – The Springfield College baseball team plated three runs in the bottom of the eighth and held on for a thrilling 10-9 win over Concordia in their Spring Break trip finale on Saturday afternoon. The Pride will head back East with a 6-2 record.
Springfield found itself down 9-5 heading into the seven inning but was able to scratch out two runs to make it a 9-7 ball game. Springfield then went ahead for good in the bottom of the eighth with three more runs to complete its comeback win.
In the 8th, Mike McGowan cracked an RBI single to tie the game before Karl Quist eanred a walk with the bases loaded to drive in the winning run.
Craig Zysk was awarded the win in relief as Springfield held on in the ninth for the win.
The Pride will play on Wednesday when it travels to take on Keene State. First pitch is slated for 3:30 pm.
