Jacob Goodreau G'26 Named Full Time Assistant Coach for Springfield College Baseball Program

Springfield, Mass. – July 24, 2026 - Springfield College Director of Athletics, Dr. Craig Poisson, is pleased to announce that Jacob Goodreau has been named as the full-time assistant coach for the Springfield College baseball program.

"Coach Goodreau's Division I experience and his track record of developing pitchers and catchers bodes well for our young men on the diamond," said Poisson. "I look forward to Jacob's contributions in all facets of our baseball program."

Goodreau spent the previous two seasons serving as a graduate assistant for the Springfield College baseball team while pursuing his Master of Education in Athletic Leadership degree. During his time on Alden Street, he has worked extensively with the program's pitchers and catchers, overseeing bullpen management, game preparation, player development, and the implementation of comprehensive in-season and off-season throwing and arm care programs.

In 2026, Springfield had one of its most memorable seasons in recent history as head coach Chad Shade '20 and Goodreau guided the Pride back to the NEWMAC Tournament for the first time since 2023 following a 23-win season marking the most wins in a season for Springfield since 2018 and the third most in Division III program history.

"Coach Goodreau has been a tremendous addition to the Springfield Baseball coaching staff these past two years and I am excited to see him excel in this elevated role," said Shade. "He brings a wealth of knowledge from his playing and coaching experiences and is committed to the development of our student-athletes. I couldn't be more excited to have him back in the program with this position."

Goodreau attended Boston College and graduated in the Spring of 2020 with a degree in communications. He was a four-year student-athlete with Boston College's baseball team and played catcher for the Eagles ultimately helping the team to 108 wins in four seasons and an appearance in the NCAA Division I Baseball Super Regional Championship as a first-year in 2016.

"I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity Coach Chad Shade and the Springfield Athletics Department has given me to be able to stay on staff as a full time assistant coach," said Goodreau. "I am excited to continue some of the work our group has already started, and to continue to make positive impacts on the lives of our student-athletes."

Outside of Springfield College, Goodreau has built an impressive coaching resume throughout western Massachusetts and Connecticut. He has coached with Corkum's Baseball since 2016, providing individual and team instruction to youth and high school players. He currently serves as a private baseball instructor at D-BAT Training Center, where he utilizes modern performance technology to analyze pitching and hitting mechanics.

Goodreau also spent three seasons as the Junior Varsity Baseball Coach and Assistant Varsity Coach at Southwick Regional School, where he developed practice plans, supported student-athletes through the college recruiting process, and helped foster player growth both on and off the field. Earlier in his career, he worked as a Recruiting Coordinator with NCSA College Recruiting, gaining valuable experience in athlete evaluation, recruiting timelines, and communication with prospective student-athletes and their families.
