Springfield, Mass. – September 19, 2013 - The Springfield College women’s tennis team cruised to a 7-2 win over host Western New England University on Thursday. The Pride improve to 2-3 with the win, while the Golden Bears drop to 3-4.
Springfield’s Sydney Streimer (Mystic, Conn.) led the charge, scoring a 6-2, 6-4 singles win over Linda Mustafa. Melanie Thulin (Manchester Center, Vt.) topped Joeanna Glantz, 6-3, 6-3 while Stephanie Foster (Woodbridge, Conn.) and Alanna Grady (Springfield, Mass.) also scored wins, (6-1, 6-0), (6-4, 2-6, 10-4), respectively.
The Pride swept all three doubles matches. Thulin and Ariana Shemms (Goshen, Conn.) won 9-7, Rachel London (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) and Foster won 8-2, and Grady and Streimer earned an 8-1 win.
Springfield will be back in action on Saturday, traveling to Emerson for a conference match up. The match is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
