Stow, Mass-October 4, 2014 – Greg Allen (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) fired an 81 in the opening day of the 2014 NECC Championships to help guide the Springfield College golf team to its sixth-place standing. As a team, Springfield was totaled 368 strokes.
Playing at the North Course at Stow Acres Country Club in Stow, Mass, the winner of the 36-hole stroke play tournament will earn the conference's automatic bid to the 2015 NCAA Championship at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, North Carolina, on May 12-15.
Babson is in first with 309 strokes, while Elms sits a close second with a 311. Newbury (332), Daniel Webster (335), and Becker (367) round out the top five. Mitchell sits at seventh (411).
Travis Price (Reading, Mass.) is currently tied for 13th overall with an 85, while Jordan Maynard (Norwich, Conn.) is tied for 22nd after posting a 91.
Kyle Alexander of Babson College posted a first day score of 75 to lead the field. Ian Notkin, also from Babson is tied in second with Chris Miele and Mike Fleury of Elms with a 76. Stephen Peltier of Newbury rounded out the five with a 77.
